Early fully electronic compact camera with auto everything
Whilst the process of taking pictures can be a pastime in itself, eventually the images themselves become more important. And when you have kids, taking 10 minutes over setting up a photograph doesn't happen. So introduce a fully automatic camera
Known officially as the AF35M II, this was my Sureshot. Canon's third by that name. This camera does pretty much everything automatically. Fully automatic focus and exposure. It will even take up the leader on the film and load automatically. Wind on is automatic and rewind is powered and at the touch of a button.
Just right for an always-with-you camera for snapshots. I got some very good pictures out of ths and begrudge calling them snapshots. It was a very good camera of its day.
Downsides? Yes. Its noisy! Pretty much every motor in it makes a shedload of noise. Even opening the lens hood (motorised) makes a noise. So don't expect to creep up on someone.
